Intertec Press Kit Graphic

Intertec Publishing's Georgina Alexakis needed some attention-getting visuals for a press kit promoting their Wireless Review magazine.

With a tight deadline looming, the image of multiple windows in rich colors was chosen for both its impact and ambiguity. (Copy was still being written.) The windows were painted white and photographed on 4x5 color transparenices in studio with strongly gelled lights. Then a second piece of film was shot without any color, to create the template for the shadows. This allowed the shadows to be manipulated separately for color, tonality and position. Scanned at identical magnifications, the images were assembed on the studio workstation with all windows and their respective shadows floating in individual layers. The final job was delivered with the layers intact, so that Ms. Alexakis could arrange the grouping to fit the page as it evolved.
